Dinner and Jazz

When people think of listening to live jazz during dinner, they probably imagine some smooth jazz being played in the background with little or no acknowledgement. If that's what you're looking for, I would avoid The Derby in Poughkeepsie, New York. This venue has an open mic night for jazz music every Tuesday from 7 PM to 10 PM. The groups are always energetic and demand attention from their audience. The DCC Jazz Band has been featured here numerous times, and the individual members often go back to play on their own. Each time they perform, the restaurant is packed, so if you are interested in watching the band play, I would reserve a table ahead of time.
Not only is the music in the place fantastic, but the food is superb as well. The menu is inclusive and has a wide variety of choices for food. They even include a gluten free menu for those who have a gluten intolerance, or those who just don't wish to eat gluten. There is also a nice bar for those who are over 21 and wish to indulge in a drink.
